A reminder… There are certain prescribed requirements under the National Small Vessel Safety Regulations, published on in August of 2007, that I wish to highlight. I am sure most of us are well aware of these regulations however I have come to realise that there are also a number of persons in extremely important roles within our boating community, who are also very unaware of these regulations and laws that govern the use of vessels on water ways, whether inland or coastal.

SA Sailing and CPUT students join forces to take sailing to all South Africans

Sailing should be accessible to all South Africans. In an effort to make that a reality, SA Sailing have launched an innovative project that has seen second-year industrial design students from the Cape Peninsular University of Technology (CPUT) hard at work to design and develop an educational DIY radio-controlled boat kit that can be built by primary school students aged between 10-13.

SA Sailing signs MOU with the Department of Transport and TETA

On 17 March 2022 SA Sailing signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Transport and the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) – for the purposes of supporting the promotion of sailing and boatbuilding, which all forms part of the department’s efforts to meet its goals on the Comprehensive Maritime Transport Policy (CMTP).

President's Update
