This application is for the Race coaches  who's accreditation with SA Sailing is about to expire or has expired.

Pre-requisites
- Be a min of 21 years of age
- SA Sailing Safety Boat Operators Cert. or equivalent
- A valid Level 1 First  Aid Cert.
- SAMSA power COC
- Current Police clearance certificate
- Portfolio of evidence showing your latest coaching activities
- Current coaching philosophy

Accreditation RPL process

 Overview

SA Sailing National Training Programme has a pathway for competitive racers to follow in order to obtain SA Sailing Race Coach accreditation. This process to accredited Race Coaches is through an RPL process. The candidates need to be competent racers who wish to pass on their skills and knowledge to up and coming racers.             The Race Coaches work in the Train to Compete part of the National Training Programme

Outcome                       

Participant will be certified and recognised as a SA Sailing Race Coach. The certified SA Sailing Race Coach will be able to act in their own personal capacity as a performance coach in Sailing to work with basic to intermediate level athletes, and be able to train from any of the SA Sailing affiliated clubs, recognised training centres and classes                   

This SA Sailing certification will be valid for 4 years and will be subject to the keeping of:                     

  • logbook of coaching hours                  
  • Updating of coaching philosophy,                  
  • Athlete development and progress reports                             
  • When acting on behalf of SA Sailing or its implemented projects, the submitting of athlete progress reports to SA Sailing Hi Performance committee secretary for record keeping.   

Prerequisite Requirements                            

  • Be over the age of 21yrs                        
  • SAMSA CoC (certificate of competency/Skippers ticket)                
  • SA Sailing Safety Boat Operators Certificate                          
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate                 
  • Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate (with drowning and secondary drowning)                             
  • Have advanced sailing experience in sailing.                         
  • Have advanced racing experience of at least National level competition.                             

Course Requirements                        

Complete the online registration process by:         

  • Submitting a current Sailing CV
  • Submit a current Coaching CV
  • Submit your Coaching philosophy  
  • Submit Proof of Payment for the applicable booking fee                

                                            

Outcomes:

Post this RPL process the successful candidates will be able to facilitate performance training in their personal capacity to work towards upskilling athletes in their ability as performance sailors for all levels of participation and championship competition.              

HP Comm will look to this group for assistance going forward to facilitate rolling out future projects in line with the strategic objective of developing future medal winners                           

SA Sailing Race Coaches are eligible to make application to SASCOC towards their accreditation for Sports Coaching Designation
