Largest TSL Participation to Date in KZN
Team sailing on Sunday, 13 October, saw the biggest participation yet for the KZN Team Sailing League with 36 people taking part, plus volunteers who ran the racing and the jury/safety boat crew.
Firstly, we say a huge thank you to P. Trimborn agency for sponsoring fuel for the rescue boats for Team Sailing in KZN, and to the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation for sponsoring the entry fee and transport for a development team. Thank you too, to Lotto for sponsoring the TSL14 boats.
TuksYachting host Inter Varsities TSL
After less than a year of establishment, TuksYachting was ready to host its first regatta. Our home base, PSC (Pretoria Sailing club) at Rietvlei dam would be the venue for our first inter-varsity event.
All hands were on deck by the TuksYachting committee to get the event under way. The event drew 30-plus students from various universities, these being: UP, Wits, UKZN and NWU
TSL Launches in Eastern Cape
The inaugural South African Sailing East Cape Team Sailing League Regatta sponsored by Coca-Cola took place on 12 October 2019 in the port of Port Elizabeth and was sailed from the Port Elizabeth Deep Sea Angling Club (PEDSAC).

Team Sailing League Takes off
Since its launch in 2017, the Team Sailing League (TSL) has been enjoying great success around the country. The chief aim of the TSL is to draw in new participants who in the past would not have given sailing a go, while also reigniting the passion in our current sailors by introducing the competitive team element.
Report to the Membership of South African Sailing on a Disproportionate use of the Federation's Resources
During the past year there has been a disproportionate use of SA Sailing’s resources, in both time and money, in a single matter involving two members. As this meant a substantial opportunity cost, considering what else might have been done with our limited resources, we believe it’s important to give an account to our members as to what transpired.
SailAfrica sends all-girls squad for training in Spain
Marine Inspirations Programme in Palma, Spain
Four Sail Africa girls from the ‘Train to Win girls’ team’ were invited to go to Palma in Spain for a 10-day experience of the Super-yacht industry, sponsored by Marine Inspirations. Marine Inspirations is a charitable mentoring programme established to introduce the prospect of a maritime career to youngsters from disadvantaged or less-advantaged backgrounds.

Toppers Worlds 2019
The three sailors that attended the Topper World Championships 2019 are back and at their desks, catching up on their homework.
What a privilege it was and an experience they will never forget. Bradon Kretzmann said: “It was an amazing experience meeting old and new friends. I manage to end up in the silver fleet and I learned a lot through the competition.â€

PYC come out tops in Bart's Bash
A massive effort from Point Yacht Club saw the Durban club emerging on top of the pile of global participants in this year’s Bart’s Bash.
The event is a global sailing race taking place at 100s of venues, with 1000s of sailors in 100s of different classes of boat around the world. Founded in 2014, the event was verified by Guinness World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race in the World’.

Youth National Sailing Championship 2019
SA Sailing Youth National championships which will also incorporate the Optimist and Dabchick Class national championships will take place at Theewater Sports Club from 14-20 December 2019. Youth Worlds 2020 Selection Process
The selection process for the next Youth Worlds in 2020 in Salvador, Brazil is open.
RS Tera Worlds 2019
Over 85 young sailors from 10 different countries came together in Ljungskile, Sweden which is located in the heart of the province Bohuslän to attend the RS Tera World Challenge Trophy from the 4 - 9 August 2019.

2020 Youth Match Racing World Championship
The 2020 Youth Match Racing World Championship, which will be hosted by Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) will take place on Waitemata Harbour, in Auckland, from Tuesday 25 Feb - Sunday 1 March 2020.
Up to 14 skippers will be invited by World Sailing. World Sailing's Member National Authorities (MNAs) may apply for an invitation for up to two skippers of their nationality

Qingdao DCAS WC Exchange Programme
The SA team recently returned from the 12th Qingdao International Sailing Week and Qingdao International Marine Festival 2019. This is their report from a successful event…
To encourage fairness and transparency, an invitation was presented to the Chairperson of WC Optimist Association who in turn invited all of the WC members to participate by submitting a short CV. The submissions were sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport who made the selection of the team
