eSailing Nations League

A 14-strong South African team is currently taking part in the eSailing Nations League, which kicked off on 11 January – up against the best virtual sailors from around the world. One of SA’s finest, Pedro De Mello Machado, explained: “We are drawn into a very tough and experienced Team Sailing group of countries and are excited to be part of this league to battle it out against the world’s best eSailors, have fun and make new friends.

International Cruisers - Around the world in eight years

Dutch cruisers Wietze van der Laan and Janneke Kuysters have been sailing along the coast of South Africa since early November. Their yacht is a steel Bruce Roberts 44, a traditional heavy displacement, semi-long keeled cutter-rigged design. She was built in 1989 in New Zealand and named Anne Caroline van Staeten Landt – after the names of their mothers and the name that Abel Tasman gave to New Zealand.

Sailing and Leisure Boating named the 2021 Theme of Year for CMTP

A Sailing recently met with representatives from the Department of Transport (DoT), SABBEX and RCYC following on the heels of the department’s public announcement that sailing would be the theme this year for their Comprehensive Maritime Transport Policy (CMTP). This was to discover exactly what this means for the sport, particularly in the year ahead.
