Become a volunteer in Sailing Administration

Sailing as many other sporting codes requires a large diversity of volunteers to assist with multiple aspects of the Sport. SA Sailing is dependent on committee structures populated by volunteers. These volunteers play a vital role from Club and District level all the way through to National level.

There are two avenues the volunteer can follow.

  • Race Officials pathway which requires accreditation
  • Sailing administration pathway.

Sailing Administrators are responsible for carrying out administrative tasks across a wide range of functions within sports clubs and organisations. For instance, you could be focusing your efforts on marketing, fundraising, procurement, supply chain management or general administration tasks. Alternatively, you could be responsible for organising and scheduling sports events, managing budgets or overseeing the recruitment and training of staff.

The best way to cut your teeth in sailing administrations is to get involved at one of our Affiliated Club, Recognised Training Centres or one of Sailing Class.

Requirements on time are mostly likely to be in the evening, weekend and/or holiday work. Major events and peak sailing seasons are extremely busy times for us and we welcome all the help we can get.
