Course information

This application is for the renewal of your respective Instructor accreditation(s) that has expired or is about to expire.

Applications for renewal will only be considered if,

  • If the candidate has sufficient hours logged then you will be contacted for an online interview for an assessment
  • Should the candidate not have insufficient hours logged then you will need to attend a full instructor course. In this case the Instructor will be issued with an Assistant Instructor Certificate in the interim.

The renewal of accreditation process is in 2 parts:

Part 1

Submit an application for renewal by completing the form below and making payment: 

The application requires the following:

  • a Valid level 1 First Aid certificate (min level 1)
  • All Safeguarding Personal Clearance (SPC) requirements needs to be provided (see files for download under description for the SPC course  available here under the club implementation section of the Safegaurding Hub page https://www.sailing.org.za/who-we-are/safeguarding)
    • Current Police Clearance
    • Safeguarding Training Certificate of completion (see World Sailing's website for a free option)
    • Signed SA Sailing Safeguarding  1. Good Practice Code of ethics, 2. Self disclosure form and 3. Handling and reporting forms 
  • Indicate by ticking the accrediation or accreditation that you wish to renew.
  • Portfolio of evidence covering the details for all the relevant accreditations you wish to renew. This portfolio should include an Instructors log signed off by Recognised Training Centre or an Affidavit for instructing hours for those not conducted at a Recognised Centre.
  • Where coaching renewal is relevant, the coaching log needs to be provided accordingly 

Part 2

SA Sailing will schedule an Online verbal assessment with you. The assessment will follow a Q&A format to confirm necessary safety and program methodology requirements are understood and followed by the candidate

Outcome

On completion of the full assessment process, If the candidate is found to be competent, the respective accreditation will be renewed for a further 4 yrs.

In the event of a candidate not meeting the minimum requirements for any of the levels applied for. The applicant can expect to receive an action plan of requirements.  This action plan may or may not require the candidate to attend the respective SA Sailing Course.
