Over the last few months, we’ve brought you news about the great work being done by The Little Optimist. SA Sailing were thrilled with the news that the organisation has received massive backing from Paris 2024. Here’s the full story, as featured by Brett Lindeque on Good Things Guy…
Sailing should be accessible to all South Africans. In an effort to make that a reality, SA Sailing have launched an innovative project that has seen second-year industrial design students from the Cape Peninsular University of Technology (CPUT) hard at work to design and develop an educational DIY radio-controlled boat kit that can be built by primary school students aged between 10-13.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to put it in your diary! The countdown is on to the 75th All Class Celebration National Championships which will be held from 16 to 19 December 2022 at the Vaal Dam and selected WC and KZN clubs.
On 17 March 2022 SA Sailing signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Transport and the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) – for the purposes of supporting the promotion of sailing and boatbuilding, which all forms part of the department’s efforts to meet its goals on the Comprehensive Maritime Transport Policy (CMTP).
Right at this moment, the December celebration of our 75th anniversary is top of my thoughts. The plan is coming together in a big way, and the event is going to change the perception of sailing in the minds of the South African public forever
