Elsewhere in this newsletter, you will find a full copy of the official comment of South African Sailing to the proposed regulations as published by the Department of Water and Sanitation.

In case you don’t find it, or don’t read that sort of stuff, the official comment explores the hidden traps tucked into the regulations – like a deworming tablet for your pet Great Dane, hidden in a piece of polony. The resource management plans, which made their appearance over a decade ago, were just that – a plan. Not legislation. Not regulation. Just a plan. Ill-conceived and unenforceable. However, the regulations as published sought to include these plans in the regulations. The inclusion was subtle – just a few lines, like the tablet in the polony – but the impact would have been enormous. 2026 Youth Nationals sponsorship opportunity with LDYC

Dear Members of the South African Sailing Community,

Lake Deneys Yacht Club has been awarded the privilege of hosting the 2026 South African Sailing Youth National Championships, one of the most important youth sailing events on the national calendar.
