Sailing Legend: Daphne Kasselman

t is with great sadness that SA Sailing learnt of the passing of Daphne Kasselman on 22 April. Daphne was the South African Sailing Transvaal/Northern Region administrator for many years, starting back in 1980. Most of us will have met her at one or other yacht club, tirelessly processing entries and sharing her knowledge and understanding of sailing administration. We remember her with love and gratitude. She was everybody’s “Tannie”

Benji Daniel and Alex Burger earn qualification spot for Tokyo

Benji Daniel and Alex Burger have made a triumphant return to the country after booking South Africa a spot at the Tokyo Olympics in the 49er class. Just a year ago, the former 29er world champions (who beat 129 teams from 17 countries for that title) were convinced their dream of competing at a first Olympics was all but over. But the event in which they could qualify finally went ahead last week.

World Sailing Trust Launches Global Participation Study

The World Sailing Trust has launched a global Participation Study to assess the status of sailing in terms of equity, diversity and inclusion. Almost two years after the launch of the Trust's global survey on women in the sport, the Participation Study will serve as a benchmarking survey to assess the sport of sailing in all its disciplines, on a global scale.
